Bucks Spoil Home Opener for the Thunder

The Milwaukee Bucks decided to play spoiler on Wednesday night. In front of just over 19,000 fans at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City, the Milwaukee Bucks defeated the Thunder 98-87. This was the home opener for the Thunder, a team that moved from Seattle last year. It should be no surprise that the Bucks won. After all, they beat a team that had only 20 wins last year. Still, a win is a win and the Bucks find themselves even at 1-1.

One thing has stood out in these first two games and that is fast break points. The Bucks are giving up to many and not getting enough. In their first game against Chicago they had 1 to the Bulls 20 . Against the Thunder they fared a little better getting 8 fast break points, but they gave up 17. Keep an eye on this as the season progresses. The ability to stop the fast break as well as the ability to get out on the break and score both contribute to whether or not a team wins or loses on a regular basis. The Bucks also committed 19 turnovers and only had 17 assists. That's not a winning ratio.

On a positive note, Redd, Jefferson and Villanueva each contributed 20 points. Bogut chipped in 14 and Bell contributed 11.

Bucks Irrelevant on JSOnline.com

As of 1:30 pm CST on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, www.jsonline.com, the website of the Milwaukee Journal/Sentinel, still doesn't have an article related to last nights Bucks game, the season opener against the Chicago Bulls. Are they sending a message that, as of now, the Bucks aren't a story? Who could blame them. Even though this team has a new GM and new head coach, they still aren't worth the price of admission.

The last published article relating to the Bucks was published on October 24th. Nice!

Keep up the good work JSOnline. Or are you trying to get me to pay for an online subscription to Bucks content? Normally I wouldn't care. But I live in Green Bay and aside from the Packers, the Press Gazzette fails to produce any original content. So, for now, I guess I'll stick to the AP article and visit ESPN.com

Bucks Lose Opener in Skiles Debut

In what appears to be the start of a long season, the Milwaukee Bucks are proving that the road to recovery is going to be a long one by opening on the road with a 108 - 95 loss at Chicago. The Bucks committed 19 turnovers and allowed Chicago to shoot 50% from the field. Chicago was able to generate 20 fast break points to the Bucks 1. 1 FAST BREAK POINT!! Seriously!?

I didn't think Skiles was the right choice from the beginning and although this is just the first game, I think it's safe to say that while these Bucks may, personnel wise, be different, they are still lacking in some key areas. Primarily defense and ball distribution. Also, they lack a presence in the middle, but that has been the case for what seems like an eternity.

I understand it's early, but the more things change, the more they really stay the same.

Let's hope I'm wrong
